Evan Rogers, composer
Born in Washington, D.C. in 1982, music technologist and composer Evan Rogers holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology from Northeastern University where he studied with composers Ronald Bruce Smith and Anthony De Ritis and a Master of Music in Composition from the Peabody Conservatory where he studied with composers Michael Hersch and Kevin Puts. Rogers has also had the privilege to coach with esteemed composers Libby Larsen, Melissa Hui and Chen Yi.
Recent performances include the European premiere of selections from his song cycle Six Significant Landscapes at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France in 2007, and bass quartet no. 1, a work commissioned by double bassist Jeffrey Weisner of the National Symphony Orchestra, premiered in April of 2008.
As a technologist Evan has been assisting in the development of spatial audio software tools for use in music and sound art at VRSonic, Inc in Arlington, VA.
Upcoming performances include a collaboration with innovative writer-director Natsu Onoda-Power of Georgetown University on a dramatic multi-media work entitled Madness and Civilization, to be performed in February of 2010 in Washington, D.C.
