Amanda Rae Matson, soprano

originally from Millis, Massachusetts, is an active performer of opera, oratorio, and art song. Amanda received her Master’s in Music from The Eastman School of Music where she performed as Hanna Glawari in the Eastman Opera Theatre production of The Merry Widow and as Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. Amanda received a Bachelor of Music, Summa Cum Laude, from Florida State University where she covered the role of Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff and performed as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. Amanda was a finalist for the Jesse Kneisel Lieder Competition and was awarded first place in the Friends of Eastman Opera Competition, judged by Thomas Lausmann. Amanda has performed in Boston Lyric Opera’s production of Carmen, in MetroWest Opera’s performance of The Magic Flute, and in Opera del West’s L’Elisir d’Amore. She has participated in numerous recitals and chamber ensembles and was seen most recently, as Countess Almaviva with the NY Opera Exchange and the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. Amanda currently studies with Rita Shane and resides in New York City.
