Erin Hannon, soprano
Lyric soprano Erin Hannon is a young, vivacious, large voiced artist who is striving to make her impression within the opera community. Coming from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, Erin was exposed to the arts at a young age. She shared her passion for music with her family, who in turn supported and nurtured her love of singing and performing.
As a lyric soprano Erin has performed many roles in Opera and Musical theatre. In Opera di Roma’s 2008 production of Die Zauberflote, she performed the role of Papagena. For three years, Erin also participated with the Virginia Opera chorus and covered the role of Giannetta in 2008 production of Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore. Erin has also performed several roles with Virginia’s Tidewater Musical Theatre including Laurie in Oklahoma, Liesl in Sound of Music and Guinevere in Camelot.
Erin’s training includes a Bachelor of Music Degrees in Voice and Opera Studies from Old Dominion University. There she performed several roles with the Old Dominion Opera Theatre including Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdinck, Geraldine in The Hand of Bridge by Samuel Barber, and Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She was also a featured soloist in several Pops and Holiday concerts with the ODU Diehn Choral. In 2004, Erin flew to Japan with the ODU Diehn Choral under the direction of Dr. Nancy Klein, to record with the Japanese Air Self Defense Wind Ensemble Kakehashi: THAT WE MIGHT LIVE, a world premiere composition by Stephen Melillo.
